In your hills I was born

Broadway terrace you are the... nesting ground

Uptown, uptown is where I'm going on the 1, on the A

Dyckman for the food, the nightlife

Fort tryon for the culture, the nature

Nagle for the beauty, of my hair that is

Back to Broadway, and I ain't talking shows

You have your own landmarks, for those of us who know

It's always been a love affair, not a secret one at that

I will always come back to what I know

What I love

Where I grew up

You change, evolve and at the root of it all stay the same

Just like me.

 

Life is a struggle, a dream in these nitty gritty streets

 

and yet, I am proud of where I'm from

I can't find my paper and pen

My thumbs do all the talking these days so I stick with the new

It's an understatement.

However, I am eager to  continue my story, this journey

and my life is all that more complex and beautiful.
